How it works

This is a reviewed check, not an instant widget. The validation runs against the official published artefacts, and a person reads the output before anything is sent back — so what reaches your inbox is findings you can act on, not raw validator noise.

1 · Email a safe sampleAttach dummy or irreversibly anonymized UBL XML representing the invoice as it left (or is about to leave) your software.
2 · We validate and reviewThe file is checked against the official published Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 validation artefacts; the findings are reviewed by a person.
3 · Results by emailA verdict plus plain-language findings comes back to the address you wrote from — typically within one business day (CET).

What this is. A technical conformance check against the published Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 rules. Peppol BIS over Peppol is Belgium's default route; two parties may agree an alternative method and format only if it also conforms to EN 16931. This check assesses Peppol BIS. It is not a registry lookup, production acceptance verdict or tax advice.

  • UBL XML gets the conformance check: does this invoice conform to the published rules? Both invoices and credit notes are covered.
  • A rejected invoice and a not-yet-sent draft are equally welcome — the checks are the same; say which it is and we read the findings in that light.
  • For this free email check, send only dummy or irreversibly anonymized data. The checks work the same provided the file structure and fields being tested are preserved.
  • One file per email keeps the turnaround honest. More files, or a whole client folder? Say so in the email — for accountancy firms there is a monthly route (section 05).

What comes back

One email, written to be read by the person who has to fix things — with the technical trace kept underneath for your IT or software vendor.

01 · Verdict

A clear verdict

Whether the file passed the published checks it was assessed against, scoped to the document type and scenarios your file actually covers.

02 · Findings

Plain-language findings

What failed and what it means, in plain language first — with the assessed release, the relevant rule IDs and the validator messages identified underneath. Belgian specifics, like the enterprise-number check behind Peppol addresses, included.

Free means free. The check and the findings email cost nothing and carry no obligation. If you want deeper help after reading your results, reply to the email and ask — you will get a straight answer about what is and is not worth paying for.

Where the Belgian mandate stands

Structured electronic invoicing between Belgian businesses is not coming — it is here. The general tolerance period has ended, and the narrower self-billing tolerance ended on 30 June 2026.

DateWhat happenedWhat it means

1 Apr 2026 General tolerance ended The general adjustment period ended. A narrower self-billing tolerance remained through 30 June 2026. The specific graduated fines for lacking the technical means to issue and receive structured invoices are €1,500, €3,000 and €5,000, with at least three months between escalations; other existing invoice penalties continue separately.

Dates and scope per the federal portal (efacture.belgium.be). Legal basis: Law of 6 February 2024; Royal Decree of 8 July 2025 (format and penalties). Rule set: Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 / EN 16931 over the Peppol network.

Accountancy firms: every folder, monthly

For accountants & fiduciaries

One rejected invoice is a nuisance. A client book of them is a workload.

For accountancy and fiduciary firms we run this same check across the whole client book, every month, from your software's bulk invoice export — one gap report per client folder, plus a short note when the rules move. Priced per firm, capped pilot.

Monthly monitoring for client folders →

Stay current as the rules move

The rule set is maintained and re-released — release 3.0.20 is currently mandatory, and OpenPeppol has published release 3.0.21 for mandatory use from 17 August 2026 — while the administration's guidance keeps being extended. Two ways to keep up, one free, one coming.

Who runs the check

London Bridge Ventures builds e-invoicing compliance tooling, including Peppol and UBL validation. Every check combines automated validation against the official published artefacts with human review, so the findings you receive can be used in a real conversation — with your finance team, your IT, your software vendor, or your accountant. You may write in Dutch or French; replies come in your language.

Technical draft-XML conformance diagnostics only · not tax or legal advice · not a production acceptance verdict · final delivery, production validation and exchange remain with your Peppol Access Point provider.
